A prophetic people in a new year

As 2025 begins, be encouraged that you are a prophetic person. You are living in prophetic times. Your destiny is before you. As a disciple of Christ Jesus, you are a light to the world. As declared by Peter in 1 Peter 2:9, “You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” Peter wrote that our conversations were to be honest and even when people speak against you as evildoers, your good works will glorify God. Being a prophetic person comes with responsibility. As is written in Romans 12:21, “be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.”

While there is an incredible sense of spiritual relief as an evil principality was shattered with the November election, a prophetic people will not now rest, but be vigilant as ever. For as Paul writes in Ephesians 6:11-13, “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all to stand.” Keep in mind that while the principality was shattered it was not completely defeated. It’s wounded and angry.

As you embark on the new year, consider the necessary resolve of a prophetic people. There will be many trials. You stood in 2024 and you prevailed. Take heed that you are not deceived or lulled into inaction. As inaction will beget bondage in this new year. Galatians 4:31-5:1 says, “So then brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free. Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” The freedom we have was purchased with a price. One man who survives an assassination attempt and has the spirit to stand up, raise his fist and exhort “Fight, Fight, Fight,” cannot fight alone and win. Your resolve to stand and hold accountability, to pray and act, and measure your steps by God’s wisdom, is imperative.

Above all, a prophetic people must not be deceived. Don’t believe something just because you want to believe it. Check out the sources, weigh the actual facts. Ephesians 5:6 says, “Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things comes the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.” Obey God, not man. Take time to know the heart of God and continue to build your relationship with Him. The year ahead will be full of deception and deceivers. As Deuteronomy 31:6 exhorts, “Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD your God, he it is goes with you; he will not fail you, nor forsake you.” Be encouraged as a prophetic people as we begin 2025.
