The March of Prophecy Part III — The Shape of the Last Days?

In observing the current events in the Middle East, This is The Daily Jot’s part three and final blog of the March of Prophecy series that connects the dots of agreements, leaders, and Scripture.

Turkey, Syria, Iran and Iraq are seemingly moving in a loosely coordinated direction. Syria is rebuilding ties with Iran. Turkey is edging closer to Tehran on security matters while still trying to maintain influence in northern Syria. Iraq remains tightly linked to Iranian political and military interests. From Israel’s northern border all the way to the mountains of Anatolia and Persia, the map resembles something closer to a coalition than a coincidence. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia anchors the southern flank with growing military capacity, economic weight and diplomatic ambition. These shifts are happening at the same moment the world is pushing hard for an Israeli–Arab peace framework. Patterns like this demand attention.

Prophecy gives us categories that strangely echo what is appearing on today’s horizon. Daniel 9:27 speaks of a future coercive ruler who strengthens a covenant “with many.” Ezekiel 38 describes a northern confederation led by a figure called Gog who comes from the regions historically tied to Turkey, Syria, and Iran. Isaiah and Micah reference the Assyrian as a future oppressor. Daniel 11 outlines tension between the “King of the North” and the “King of the South,” two directional power blocs surrounding Israel. These passages have challenged interpreters for centuries. Yet here we are watching northern nations align, southern nations rise, and the world’s diplomats search feverishly for a region-wide peace. The world stage is beginning to look like the stage the prophets described.

At the center of these new developments is a growing framework of negotiations that bind Israel, Gaza, Syria, Turkey and Saudi Arabia into a loosely connected set of agreements. The Gaza Peace Plan creates a demilitarized zone under international oversight and a technocratic transition tied to American administration. Syria and Israel are exploring security guarantees. Turkey and Israel are coordinating military deconfliction. Saudi Arabia is inching toward normalization with Israel while expanding influence across the region. Each piece is small on its own. But together they form a political architecture capable of expanding into a single regional covenant. Scripture never tells us the exact structure. It does tell us to watch for a covenant that stabilizes Israel temporarily while setting up the rise of a leader with global influence.

We’re not there yet. But the scaffolding is rising. Christians should not panic. But neither should we ignore what’s happening. We are witnessing a moment when geopolitics and prophecy touch edges. The Bible reminds believers to stay awake, discern the times, and understand that history is moving toward a decisive conclusion under God’s sovereignty. What we’re seeing may be the early outline of events foretold long ago—or it may be the world preparing the kind of structure in which those events could occur. Either way, our task is the same: remain alert, grounded in Scripture, and steady in faith. We don’t predict dates. We prepare hearts. The Middle East is shifting into shapes that look remarkably familiar to anyone who has read Daniel, Ezekiel or Revelation. That alone should get our attention.
