Harvard University is considered worldwide as the standard-bearer for academic excellence and intelligence. Harvard boasts the likes of former president’s Barack Obama and George W. Bush, among six other US Presidents, 11 US Attorney generals, 16 Supreme Court Justices, and presidents and prime ministers from Ireland, China, India, Mongolia, Bolivia, Mexico, Singapore, Chile, Liberia, Columbia, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Canada, Somalia, Bhutan, Tanzania, and Hong Kong. Also several Nobel Prize winners and executives like dropouts Bill Gates and Mark Zukerberg came from Harvard. The list goes on and on and the influence of Harvard not only in America, but around the world, is unmatched.
Best College Reviews writes, “Harvard University possesses the title of America’s oldest learning institution, founded in 1636. At its inception, this university’s name was “New College,” and its purpose was mainly to educate clergy. In 1639, the school’s name became Harvard University, so named for the Rev. John Harvard. Harvard bequeathed half of his estate and his entire library to the school upon his death. This significant bequest led the school to honor him by taking his name.” Harvard was established by the Massachusetts Bay Colony which after “God had carried us safe to New England…one of the next things we longed for, and looked after was to advance learning and perpetuate it to Posterity; dreading to leave an illiterate ministry to the Churches when our present ministers shall lie in the dust,” as published in the book “New England’s First Fruits” about early evangelization efforts of the Puritans.
Imagine Reverend John Harvard’s reaction if he saw what has become of his beloved institute of higher learning in today’s times. Nothing could be more demonstrative of Harvard University’s spiritual condition than the recent announcement that it chose Greg Epstein, 44, a devout atheist and ‘humanist chaplain’ as president of the chaplains of Harvard. During the 2020 election Epstein was the national chair of Humanists for Biden/Harris. The Chaplains describe themselves as “a professional community of more than 30 chaplains, representing many of the world’s religious, spiritual, and ethical traditions, who share a collective commitment to serving the spiritual needs of the students, faculty, and staff of Harvard University.”
So much for the foundational doctrine of Christianity proclaimed by Christ in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Harvard has drifted far from its original mooring as proclaimed in its motto, “Truth for Christ and the Church.” Harvard has become a cesspool for secular humanist thought, an example of those forewarned in Romans 1:25-26, “Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator…For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections.” Now Harvard has placed a capstone on its transformation with an atheist heading up its chaplaincy. As we look at this latest move and the long list of the oh-so-smart world leaders from Harvard who have made quite the mess of things, we can say it without reservation…Stupidocrisy.
