It’s a rare moment in history when the Democratic Party leadership calls for the resignation of one of their own governors. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) led Democratic governors in handling COVID-19 with directives to send infected people to nursing homes, giving the death sentence to over 16,000 people in New York alone—a figure his aides tried to remove from a report written by state health officials. A politically-motivated Justice Department absolved Cuomo and other Democrat governors of that sin. But now President Biden and other key Democrats are demanding Cuomo resign—not for sending beloved seniors to their untimely death, but because Cuomo is a serial sexual harasser of women.
So now, the sharks are in the water. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) nobly called for Cuomo’s ouster, saying, “As always, I commend the women who came forward to speak their truth. Recognizing his love of New York and the respect for the office he holds, I call upon the Governor to resign.” Biden, after admitting that some of Cuomo’s unwanted embraces were misunderstood, said, “I think he should resign.” Cuomo, in an 85-page defense of his actions, showed photos of prominent democrats, including Biden and Barack Obama, hugging women. Here is the choice for the Democratic Party: a media blitz of governors being charged with killing seniors, of which they used the Justice Department to absolve, or a few stories of sexual harassment, for which they made a governor resign.
After all, what would people think if Cuomo and four other Democrat governors were brought up on mass murder charges for systematically killing old people? And how does one get rid of a political liability going into the next election cycle without damaging an entire stable of candidates? Sex charges. That’s the Democrats’ “go to.” This is not to minimize the mental and physical consequences of Cuomo’s actions against dozens of women. He is deplorable. Given that, Cuomo should be facing criminal charges on both sexually harassing women AND killing New York’s senior citizens. Cuomo saw all this coming and that’s why his cunning staff hastily set up a task to inoculate the Governor against sexual assault by “reimagining” services to domestic violence and sexual assault victims.
On June 11, 2020, Cuomo “accepted” the task force’s recommendations, saying, “The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a drastic increase in the number of reported domestic violence cases in the state, leaving many survivors trapped at home with their abusers without access to help or resources.” He might now add, “and trapped in my office” as scores of women testified. It seems that whenever a politician becomes a liability, sexual accusations are the downfall, not necessarily the original egregious act—in this case making citizens carry death to nursing homes. As Christ said in Luke 12:2, “For there is nothing hidden that shall not be revealed.” In this case, it’s a shell game of hidden atrocities and in the eyes of politicians, who may be guilty of similar things, it’s better Cuomo resign for sex issues than death issues. Say it with me…Stupidocrisy.
