The aftermath of a handful of Republicans and all the Democrats in the US House of Representatives removing Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) in a historical vote is one of confusion. Democrats are being Democrats. They will vote for most anything that disrupts the Republicans. And Republicans are being Republicans, unable to find unity on much of anything. This is the case where eight congressmen changed the course of history. It should be an object lesson to all that if you believe in what you are doing and take a stand, even against seemingly insurmountable odds, you may be rewarded with success. Hopefully, the ousting of McCarthy will wake up Republicans and spur them to be a true opposition party.
For decades, Americans have seen Republicans in Congress talk a conservative, middle America game. They make great proclamations about sanctity of life, traditional marriage, fiscal responsibility, socialist healthcare, bodily autonomy, energy independence, freedom of speech, freedom of self-defense, religious freedom, voting integrity, border security, and the list goes on and on. But even when in the majority, Republicans have been unable to slow the Democrat juggernaut on the bulk of these issues. It’s gotten so bad that the current Democratic Administration openly supports public school-sanctioned sexual grooming of our kids and redistributing multi-billions of our tax money to frivolous Democrat causes like climate change, Ukraine, and electric cars.
Republicans in Congress talk a good game. They tell us what we want to hear. They wrap their words in God and country and bundle them in the flag. We go out and vote, put them in office and then they fold like lawn chairs in a summer breeze. Folks, we didn’t get to record debt, record inflation, high gas prices, high food prices, racial disruption, COVID lockdowns, our religious rights and Constitutional rights being diminished to the point of persecution just by Democrat Marxist lunacy. We got there, in a large part, by Republican ineptitude in talking a good game, but not playing to win. Essentially, big hat, no cattle. For too long, Republicans have been complacent because they know God-fearing conservatives won’t vote for the socialist party.
Just look at the judicial system. Democrats are misusing the law to persecute their opposition, yet Republicans sit around and wring their hands rather than stand against this coup of Marxist hegemony. Feckless doesn’t describe what we have witnessed. What eight congressmen did to oust McCarthy shook things up. Maybe it got these no-doer’s attention. We are sailing perilous seas. It’s going to take bold action to right the good ship America. My prayer is that in the days and months ahead that Republicans will actually unify and match their deeds with their words. For us peasants in the hinterland with a vote in our hand, may we discern and hold accountability. As Christ said in Matthew 7:19-20, “Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them.” Time to build the fire.
