The body count was hardly known before former president Barack Obama, President Joe Biden, Representative Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and other Democrats started using the deaths of others to advance their anti-gun political social agenda. At the same time, there were hearings on Capitol Hill discussing the military and domestic extremists, painting Evangelical Christians and Catholics in the same frame as the Ku Klux Klan, feeding the media the narrative that Christians are a domestic terrorist threat. All the while ignoring the mental health issues and Islamic terrorist brainwashing as possible triggers for the killers of Asians in Atlanta and others at a traditional Jewish store in Boulder.
The news and government narrative has been race-motivation and calls for gun control. Notwithstanding, the Boulder Jewish Community Center, in a statement on Monday, said: “We are shaken to our core, and we mourn the loss of life. Our thoughts are with the families of the victims, law enforcement, and first responders who put their lives on the line for our beloved community. We are traumatized. This is our home, this is our grocery store. We have been there for each other throughout an incredibly difficult year.” The Boulder shooting took place as Jews were preparing for one of their highest holy day feasts, the Passover. The news media and the government appear to be ignoring that the Atlanta killer was a dissatisfied sex addict and that the Boulder killer was a Syrian-born Islamist.
Holding the person accountable, however, is not the politician’s goal. Banning guns is the goal. When asked Friday about whether Biden would take executive action against guns, White House press secret ary Jen Psaki answered, “Yes. I can’t give you an exact time frame, in part, because they have to go through a review process, which is something that we do from here. I will note that when we, when the president was the vice president in the Obama-Biden administration, he helped put in place 23 executive actions to combat gun violence…It’s one of the levers that we can use that any federal government, any president, can use to help address the prevalence of gun violence and address community safety around the country.”
Is it too much common sense (otherwise known in these days of “wokeness” as hate, stereotyping, bigotry, racism and other labels) to draw the conclusion that a gun is no worse or better than the person that pulls the trigger? We need to deal with character issues, with mental health issues, with real honest discussions about religious extremism from traditionally violent religions, and with hidden political agendas before we excuse the trigger pullers and blame the gun. In short, evil people, including those in the media and politicians, twist the circumstances to fit their agenda. As is written in Proverbs 17:15, “He that justifies the wicked and condemns the just, even they both are abomination to the Lord.”
