In Matthew 14 is the story of how Christ took five loaves of bread and two fishes and miraculously fed over 5,000 people. Verses 14-21 say, “And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and broke, and gave the loaves to his disciples and the disciples to the multitude. And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full. And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.” They not only ate, but were filled. It was a miracle. After reviewing our efforts in Ghana in 2022, we at The Daily Jot believe we witnessed another miracle.
Through the efforts of our resident team of volunteers led by Pastor William Agbeti, the most needy people in five rural regions of Ghana receive life-sustaining foodstuffs. These are places where the mainline churches will not venture out as it can be life-threatening with the encroachment of Islam and dangerous because of the lack of infrastructure. Notwithstanding, our intrepid team continues to persevere by being highly resourceful in adapting to changing situations. Where roads are washed out with flood, they find people who will help transport food and clothing on motorbikes. Where Islam threatens, they persist under the Lord’s protection. They bring clothing, clean water and food in the name of Christ.
Thanks to your readership, prayers and contributions, over 55,000 meals were delivered to the underserved in 2022—yes, 55,211 meals. Your contribution literally helped save lives, even more so, reaffirmed the faith in Christ of many who were in dire and hopeless situations. We are putting into practice Romans 8:24, “For we are saved by hope.” Working through us, Christ is bringing hope to the hopeless. For it is in his name that we serve. In the year ahead, we hope to expand our feeding initiatives in each region by assisting the church communities we serve in growing produce that can provide food, income, and lasting infrastructure to continue the message of Christ through life sustaining provision. Your faithfulness is essential to our efforts.
The Daily Jot is a free news service with the twist of great humanitarian efforts in the name of the Lord. There are no salaries. No expensive offices. No staff. While the news of the world is generally frightening and dark, the GOOD NEWS in Christ brings life-changing hope and light. That’s what we’re all about, and we appreciate partners such as yourself. Christ told those at the Sermon on the Mount that they were the salt of the earth and the light of the world. Indeed, when we work together to feed the hungry, give water to those who thirst, and clothe the naked, we are blessed by the Father in heaven. We all thank you for supporting this ministry–most of all those who benefit from your many mercies and blessings thank you.
